NASA Salinity Website and StoryMaps
[19-May-2026] deCharon, A. The collection of “NASA Salinity” StoryMaps continues to grow with 10 being added over the past year or so. These popular features are based on research publications, topics of interest to salinity scientists (e.g., RFI, sea ice contamination), and new programs such as FRESH Arctic. We will show a few examples of these interactive stories, share usage statistics, and provide insights on what makes a compelling story for non-expert audiences. We will talk about the process of creating StoryMaps, which has been honed to optimize the contribution of busy scientists. Our goal is to not only share the excitement of salinity research with broad audiences but also pique the interest of colleagues who may be interested in having their own work highlighted on the “NASA Salinity” website.
