Finding the Link Between Ocean Density and Circulation
[02-Jun-2014] In this video, Dr. Susan Lozier (Professor of Ocean Sciences, Duke University) explains how changes in ocean circulation are the result of not only changes in seawater density, but also the amount of wind blowing on the surface of the ocean to push the water around. This helps scientists explain more thoroughly the idea of the "global conveyor belt", a generalized term for the more aptly named "overturning circulation".
